The area around Stagias Ranch House is rich in history and scenery and sponsors annual events that are as much fun as they are educational. The Hudson River has many points of interest. Such as the Roosevelt Estate in Hyde Park, Mills Mansion, Vanderbilt Mansion, Montgomery Place, Poets Walk, 3 state parks, and a slue of light houses to see.

Regular events are held continually at the Dutches County Fairgrounds in addition to the 150 year old fair in August every year. The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome features old planes and air shows every weekend in the summer and fall as well as plane rides for the more venturesome type.

Local farms in the Red Hook area offer extensive pick your own throughout the season and a number of markets like the one located on the Stagias Farm itself. In the spring Fishermen will find the Hudson River filled with striped bass weighing as much as 50 pounds. Wild turkey and white tail deer are also abundant around the area. Red Hook has recently expanded its golf course to 18 holes and the village is loaded with antique shops for those who like to browse for that special treasure. Near by Hudson also flourishes with many shops for the antique seeker.

The centrally located Red Hook area also is close to world class skiing at Hunter Mountain, Windham and Catamount. All within a 45 min drive from the house and a NYC visit by car or train in about 2 hours. We suggest the train as it is a scenic ride along the Hudson River all the way.
